In too many instances, a therapist will write out prescriptions for their patient with a sentiment of, “Now off you go.”
As a business practice, that is not healing the whole person. The individual also requires Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a hybrid treatment approach to learn new thinking skills/keep them on track to foster –
- Even though they have a mental health issue, they are not a mental health issue;
- Gain clarity;
- Elevate self-esteem;
- Continue with interests, hobbies, activities. Life;
- They are a good person;
- Remove aloneness–they are not the only one experiencing a mental health difficulty;
- Maintain/begin nutritional diet and exercise routine;
- Continue goal pursuits;
- Difficulties can nurture emotional and mental strength, and
- Becoming mentally proactive in handling life challenges.
