Every generation has a population of young adults who are mostly vibrant, healthy, and with a certain joie de vivre.  Sadly, there is an uptick in the number of young adults under the age of 50 being diagnosed with different types of cancer.  

Why?

Whether They’re Called Goals Or Bucket Lists, Certain Things To Keep In Mind

YOUR LIFE, YOUR GOALS!

First, they have to be realistic goals for attainment that can come to fruition.  It is better to stay away from any overly complicated goals.

Second, before goal achievement can even possibly occur, an individual must have a healthy attitude.  Don’t let it be said that the aspect that caused your goal stagnation was a negative attitude.

Third, it’s a good idea to maintain your counsel (i.e., keep your ideas to yourself).  These are your dreams and it is better when you keep them close to your breast to avoid unnecessary external complications and impediments.  Unfortunately, some people with a pathology take delight in sabotaging the plans of others.

Fourth, while an earlier entry talked about personal attitude, it’s also important to surround yourself with people with positive attitudes:  Those with a can-do attitude.  Anything less are people who will stifle your attempts and deteriorate any future goal attainment.  They can drag a person down and goal attempts can wither away, and possibly forever.

Fifth, while you may not entertain the company of people with negative attitudes, these individuals can pop up while attempting to achieve goals.  It’s important to use those experiences as encouragement to keep plugging away to securing those achievements.  Consider the experiences as practice in strengthening your emotional maturity.

Finally, having smaller goals, and bucket lists, are more doable and have a way of making a passage for other goal fulfillments.

One Last Thing Before The Holiday Festivities Commence

Plagiarism & Other Scientific Misconduct

Disclaimer:  This post is NOT a commentary on the recent situation at an educational institution.  That is their business and issue.  This writer is discussing the topic of BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES, the reporting of scientific results, and acknowledging (i.e., citing sources) of research.

It would be remiss not to discuss this incredibly important topic!

After the research is performed, the results have to be reported accurately, naming all of the participants in the study (i.e., all of those involved in conducting the research).  The results, after using scientific instruments to measure the information, have to be reported as they are and not skewed in any form.  The results, whatever they are, are valuable information for the public to gain awareness on the subject.

Intentionally inaccurate reporting of findings can result in reputations in tatters, future grants no longer available (i.e., jeopardized because of the lack of trust), and more importantly, the risk of harm to the public.

When using the vocabulary from other research (whether from current findings or earlier ones), the writer has to cite those researchers in-text and in the reference listings.

Finally, it’s one thing to discuss a topic thoroughly in a narrative as though you’re speaking to someone in person.  The reader can tell that the writer has a strong knowledge of the subject.  It’s quite another to lift someone’s thoughts and use them as your own.  The reader can tell the writer lacks a strong knowledge of the subject.

As We Approach Thanksgiving, There Is A Characteristic We Should Have On Display Throughout The Year
